Guttman Energy recently held its annual Volunteer Day, giving employee-owners a chance to embody the Company’s core values through service efforts. As a team bonding and community building experience, the Guttman Energy volunteer team had been anticipating this day for months—in fact, 110 Guttman Energy employees participated, with their contributions spanning from helping healthcare heroes to supporting local schools.
More specifically, Guttman Energy employee owners were assigned to give a helping hand to one of five worthy causes. At the Bag Brigade, team members helped pack bags of donated food for food-insecure children. At the YMCA Mon Valley, other team members helped spread river rock at the Mon Valley Hospital, while another group of Guttman Energy employee owners helped plant flowers. California Elementary School also received a welcome visit from Guttman Energy, where team members helped clean the IT space. Guttman Energy even sent a team to the Hands and Feet Project to sort through clothing donations for the local area.
As a Company with strong ties to the area, Guttman Energy recognizes the importance of strengthening the surrounding area. One of the Company’s founding values, “Serve”, extends past customers and into the community, fostering strong connections and healthy, safe environments for all who live in the Mon Valley.
This year, however, the spirit of Volunteer Day takes on a bit of a new meaning. After transitioning to an employee-owned company, Guttman Energy shows a renewed understanding of the impact of coming together, and how strengthening others can be a mutually beneficial experience. Along with sprucing up essential businesses and organizations in the community, Guttman Energy employee owners enjoy the comradery of having a common goal to work towards—paralleling how their contributions to the Company benefit all under the Guttman Holdings umbrella. With a long day of community service under their belts, these employee-owners now approach their work with an even closer bond to their coworkers and a renewed appreciation for the impact of teamwork.
