Tis the season for winter weather and this week we are experiencing the full effects of winter storm Gail, marching up the east coast. Many from Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania have all felt these effects which includes slick road conditions and delayed travel.
With a disruption in the transportation industry, could put a halt on the distribution of the big news that we have heard over the past few weeks, Pfizer’s vaccine. The first batches were shipped out on Monday nationwide along with an extra 2.9 million more doses to ship within the next few days. This winter storm could prevent 97,500 of the COVID-19 vaccine doses from reaching Pennsylvania alone. Vaccines are also being held in a “safety stock” for contingency planning in case shipment’s get canceled or delivery trucks are delayed due to weather conditions.
It is advised to be prepared for anyone out there traveling for the holidays and to use government safety travel precautions. Have a safe and enjoyable Holiday Season!
